There are about 1000 Australian Rotary Clubs distributed across the country with about 23,000 Rotarians. Club members have interests in projects to improve the circumstances of their own communities in normal times and when they are impacted by damaging events. Many Rotary Clubs also develop and participate in international aid projects aimed at sustainable development in nations defined as developing countries by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

RAWCS currently facilitates 100 projects within Australia and 320 projects in 40 developing countries. On this website, using the “Search for a project” function, current projects can be searched by country and by cause along with other parameters.

RAWCS overseas aid projects embody the following principals:

They contribute to SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. Development seeks to improve the conditions of communities in a sustainable way. It is based on working with communities, rather than for or on behalf of communities.

They are based on FAIR DISTRIBUTION. Development activities seek to improve the well-being of those in need without favouritism or discrimination by race, religion, culture or political persuasion. This means that although a project may target a particular location or community, it seeks to bring about positive changes for the benefit of all members of the community.
