AN appeal launched on television to help a NSW family hit by tragedy and misfortune virtually crashed the Rotary Club website set up to host it.

Dick Smith said his donation, to be matched dollar for dollar by Rotary clubs around Australia, was designed to help Aussies in situations of hardship.

The objective of this program is to enhance and enrich the abilities of the Timorese young people to become better leaders. The outcome will provide improved personal growth and improved living standards within the communities of Timor Leste. On the field trip they: Oversaw running of a RYLA camp in Tibar and a RYPEN Camp in Hera in TL. Visited volunteer run pre-schools and NGO /government funded pre-schools. Visited a TL/Portugese funded orphanage in Gleno. Attended official opening of pre-school in Hera run by RYLA alumni and funded by Mosman Rotary Club. Met with government Minister for Youth. Liased and handed over Days for Girls Kits to our team in TL for distribution. Now have 6 Rotaract Clubs and one indigenous Rotary Club made up of RYLA alumni.
